How does Lybbie work?
Is this a cloth diaper? Do I need to fold anything?
Our Lybbie diaper sits right at the intersection of cloth and disposable. It’s reusable and free from harmful substances like a cloth diaper (and just as sustainable), yet just as easy to put on as a disposable. No folding, no stacking, no separate pieces to wash.
How many diapers do I need?
If you want to use Lybbie full-time, we recommend our Basic Set with 14 diapers. It gives you everything you need to get started. If you prefer the extra convenience, our Comfort Set with 21 diapers is the best choice.
What is the disposable liner and how do I use it?
It is a kind of soft, washable paper that is placed inside the diaper. It catches the stool effectively and can be disposed of together with it. This keeps your Lybbie diaper protected from the heaviest soiling.
What do I do with the full diapers?
Where do I store used diapers?
Used diapers are stored in a special bag (a wet bag). It keeps the diapers contained and convenient until the next wash.
How do you wash the diapers?
Wash at 60 °C with a sensitive detergent (preferably powder) and a pre-wash cycle, following our detergent recommendations.
You do not need fabric softener or hygiene rinse. Afterwards, simply line-dry the diaper.
Tip: You can wash your diaper laundry every 3–4 days. Until then, you can store the diapers in the wet bag.
Do the diapers hold up?
Don’t cloth diapers always leak?
When Lybbie is fitted correctly, it can keep your baby reliably dry.
Our patent-pending leak protection and the exceptionally high absorbency (compared to typical cloth diapers) both play an important role in that.
How often should I change the Lybbie diaper?
Lybbie diapers, like all diapers, whether disposable or cloth, should be changed every 3–4 hours at the latest.
For stool, change immediately.
That said, in exceptional situations they often stay leakproof for longer.
What about sensitive baby skin?
Lybbie is breathable, soft, and free from harmful substances. The materials are certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and tested by the Hohenstein Institute. Many parents report that their babies react less sensitively to Lybbie than to disposable diapers made of plastic.

Sustainability & Production
How sustainable is Lybbie really?
A single child uses around 5,000 disposable diapers in the first years of life.
Lybbie replaces that waste with long-lasting, reusable cloth diapers. Our materials are recycled or certified, and together with partners like Plastic Bank we support projects that collect plastic before it reaches the ocean.

Washing basics
How do you wash the diapers?
Wash at 60 °C with a sensitive detergent (preferably powder) and a pre-wash cycle, following our detergent recommendations.
You do not need fabric softener or hygiene rinse. Afterwards, simply line-dry the diaper.
Tip: You can wash your diaper laundry every 3–4 days. Until then, you can store the diapers in the wet bag.
Which detergent do you recommend?
- DenkMit Vollwaschmittel Pulver Ultra Sensitiv
- Waschkampagne
- Domol Vollwaschmittel Pulver Ultra Sensitiv
- Ecover Zero Sensitive Vollwaschmittel
Wash everything at 60 degrees with a pre-wash cycle.
Do I need to rinse used diapers before putting them in the wet bag?
No. Better not. Store them dry and later run a pre-wash cycle in the machine.
Urine and water together create odor.
Can I store wet washcloths in the wet bag as well?
Use a separate wet bag for this. Wet washcloths and urine react with each other.
Do I need to close the hook-and-loop fastener when washing?
Yes, absolutely. Place the hook-and-loop fastener onto its counterpart before washing — this protects the diaper and prevents it from catching on other textiles.
Do I need to wash everything immediately?
No. You can collect diapers for 3–4 days, ideally in a breathable wet bag. The only important thing is: do not store them in a place that is too warm.
Can milk stool be washed in the machine?
Yes, milk stool is water-soluble and will be hygienically rinsed out in the washing machine.
Please always use the pre-wash cycle for this. We recommend using disposable liners (Sch(m)utzpapier) only once your baby starts solids.
Does the wet bag need to be open when I wash it?
Yes. This is the only way to ensure that the diapers get properly clean in the washing machine. Open the zipper, shake out the diapers briefly, and place everything in the machine together.
Do I need to pull the absorbent flap out of the diaper before washing?
Absolutely. This is the only way to ensure everything gets hygienically clean. Do not worry — the absorbent flap is designed to make this super easy. Simply pull the small loops to slide it out a bit; the washing machine will take care of the rest during the spin cycle.
And if you forget once? No problem — the diaper will still get clean. Just make sure to pull the flap out before the next wash.
May I use hygiene rinse?
Please do not. Fabric softeners, harsh additives, or special agents can damage the outer layer — in the worst case, the diaper may become leaky.
A regular detergent at 60 °C with a pre-wash cycle is more than enough to get the diapers hygienically clean.
