Wrap, wash and reuse Lybbie.

We'll show you how to use Lybbie optimally and easily.

Quick Guide

  • 1. Put the diaper on the child.

Our diapers are all-in-one and are put on like disposable diapers. You don't need to insert or prepare anything. Just put them on and you're done.

  • 2. Adjust buttons to fit the child

The snap fasteners on the front are adjusted once to the thickness of your baby's legs.

Our size 1 (4–7 kg) has an additional button between the Velcro fasteners. This can be closed during the first few days of life to protect the sensitive navel area.

  • 3. Prepare the diaper for washing

Before washing, the Velcro fastener is closed and the suction tongue is gently pulled out at the tab.

Then the diaper goes into the wet bag. There it can be stored hygienically for three to four days.

  • 4. Prepare the diaper again

To insert it, simply reach into the small pocket at the end of the suction tongue.

This makes it easy to push it back into the diaper. Make sure it's guided all the way to the front.

The correct fit of the diaper

  • Adjust buttons to fit leg thickness

For the smallest size, use the bottom row of buttons.

As your baby grows, you simply fasten the buttons upwards step by step.

  • Loose seat

A slightly looser fit compared to disposable diapers allows moisture to stay inside better, preventing leaks.

  • Light marks are normal

Light marks are harmless. For noticeable or deep marks, please close the garment a little looser or switch to the next size up.

  • Two fingers between belly and diaper

The diaper shouldn't fit too tightly around the stomach. You can tell a diaper fits well by the fact that it keeps you reliably dry.

Questions about the fitting and the tightness

Where does the stool go?

It is disposed of easily thanks to our disposable liner.

Place it in the diaper before changing, and then throw it away together with the stool in the trash.

Don’t cloth diapers always leak?

When Lybbie is fitted correctly, it can keep your baby reliably dry.

Our patent-pending leak protection and the exceptionally high absorbency (compared to typical cloth diapers) both play an important role in that.

What about sensitive baby skin?

Lybbie is breathable, soft, and free from harmful substances. The materials are certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 and tested by the Hohenstein Institute. Many parents report that their babies react less sensitively to Lybbie than to disposable diapers made of plastic.

How long does the diaper stay leakproof?

This depends on your child’s age and drinking or urination patterns. Many families also use Lybbie at night with great results. During the day, some parents report staying dry for up to eight hours in certain situations. If your child is going through a phase of more frequent urination, adding an extra booster can be helpful during that time.

Are there blowouts like with disposable diapers?

A gentle ruffled edge on the back helps prevent stool from moving upward.

The ruffled side cuffs also help contain stool reliably before it reaches the clothing.

Questions about storing in a wet bag

Do I need to wash everything immediately?

No. You can collect diapers for 3–4 days, ideally in a breathable wet bag. The only important thing is: do not store them in a place that is too warm.

Where do I store used diapers?

Used diapers are stored in a special bag (a wet bag). It keeps the diapers contained and convenient until the next wash.

What should not go into the wet bag?

Please do not put wet washcloths into the wet bag when diapers are stored inside.

Additional moisture can intensify odors.

A separate wet bag is better suited for baby wet wipes.

Can I store wet washcloths in the wet bag as well?

Use a separate wet bag for this. Wet washcloths and urine react with each other.

Questions about washing

How do you wash the diapers?

Wash at 60 °C with a sensitive detergent (preferably powder) and a pre-wash cycle, following our detergent recommendations.

You do not need fabric softener or hygiene rinse. Afterwards, simply line-dry the diaper.

Tip: You can wash your diaper laundry every 3–4 days. Until then, you can store the diapers in the wet bag.

What happens if stool misses the liner?

That is not a problem. Simply wipe out the diaper roughly with toilet paper; the washing machine will take care of the rest.

Do I need to rinse used diapers before putting them in the wet bag?

No. Better not. Store them dry and later run a pre-wash cycle in the machine.

Urine and water together create odor.

Can milk stool be washed in the machine?

Yes, milk stool is water-soluble and will be hygienically rinsed out in the washing machine.

Please always use the pre-wash cycle for this. We recommend using disposable liners (Sch(m)utzpapier) only once your baby starts solids.

May I use hygiene rinse?

Please do not. Fabric softeners, harsh additives, or special agents can damage the outer layer — in the worst case, the diaper may become leaky.

A regular detergent at 60 °C with a pre-wash cycle is more than enough to get the diapers hygienically clean.

Does the wet bag need to be open when I wash it?

Yes. This is the only way to ensure that the diapers get properly clean in the washing machine. Open the zipper, shake out the diapers briefly, and place everything in the machine together.

Do I need to close the hook-and-loop fastener when washing?

Yes, absolutely. Place the hook-and-loop fastener onto its counterpart before washing — this protects the diaper and prevents it from catching on other textiles.
