Our Story

  • Berlin 2023. How skepticism leads to founding

Christin and Sabrina are using cloth diapers for their first child. Not because they're part of the eco-bubble, but because it feels right. They lovingly iron their muslin cloths and have loads of laundry full of diaper inserts. Full of enthusiasm, they try to convince their friends, who all remain skeptical. Too much work, they think.

And because they love a challenge, they decide to launch their own diaper. One that combines everything. One that lets you build castles in the air. Simple and absorbent like a disposable diaper. Stylish like a designer garment. And as a company, they want to meet the highest ethical standards.

  • China, 2023. Why a Chinese port city is the place to be

Someone had to tailor them, so the two searched for the perfect tailor. In Germany (no luck), in Europe (little expertise and no traceability of materials), and finally internationally. And lo and behold: recycled materials, fair working conditions, and a transparent supply chain.

Over two years, the factory patiently produced more than 40 prototypes.

As experienced producers of cloth diapers, they were already convinced after prototype number 20 that this design had turned out exceptionally well.

But Christin and Sabrina wanted more: outdoor threads, an additional coating, a special weave, details that would make Lybbie even more functional and durable.

  • Constance, 2024. The launch and the press

In June, the time finally comes. A truck delivers the first shipment of Lybbie diapers to the front door. The office is transformed into a warehouse. The first trade fairs are attended – Kind + Jugend in Cologne and Kids Austria in Salzburg. Contacts are established with distributors, and shops begin stocking the first Lybbie diapers.

Brigitte was the first to report on the newcomer, Men's Health recommended Lybbie to stylish fathers, and InStyle Mini & Me focused on style and aesthetics. Finally, the FAZ emphasized that Lybbie was taking on Pampers. More and more people were ordering, and Christin and Sabrina were packing until late at night.

  • Constance, 2025. Sold out. Sold out. And even more sold out.

2025 starts like a whirlwind. The office becomes too small, and diaper production is outsourced to a fulfillment center. Heavily pregnant, Christin packs all the diapers into boxes, which are picked up shortly before the birth of her second child. A new collection is launched, followed by the first big photoshoot. Sold out.

Orders for diapers kept increasing, forcing the factory to expand. But after every delivery: sold out. Then, in June, demand became so high that shipments were sold out weeks in advance. The launch of their own production line began. And so began a new chapter for Lybbie.

What makes Lybbie different

  • Goodbye poop explosions

Our diaper offers multiple layers of protection: with patent-pending leak protection, extra edging of the absorbent core, and seams like those found on outdoor clothing.

  • Goodbye diaper rash

Breathable and tested free of harmful substances: Our fabrics are OEKO-TEX® certified and tested by the Hohenstein Institute.

  • Diapers with real impact

On average, a baby needs around 5,000 disposable diapers. Our fabrics are also made from recycled materials, and with every order, we support Plastic Bank in collecting plastic before it ends up in the ocean. This way, a single diaper becomes a decision that can make a real difference.
