Study finds harmful chemicals in baby diapers.
Study shows: Babies carry pollutants on their skin day and night for years
In 2019, a French health authority proved that many disposable diapers contain dangerous chemicals . These include substances that can cause skin irritation, allergies , and even impaired function.
Fertility is associated with it.
Babies carry these chemicals on their skin day and night for several years.
Two mothers, one of whom had a Harvard degree, wondered: "How can something that touches a baby's skin every day be full of questionable ingredients?"
The answer was clear: What's needed is a diaper that is safe for baby's skin and a good choice for parents.
How Lybbie diapers came to be developed
Christin Brutsche and Sabrina Seltmann, the two founders of Lybbie, wanted a diaper that was free of harmful substances . The diapers had to be especially good for delicate baby skin, easy to use in everyday life , and also attractive .
But that was easier said than done. Single-use plastics were not an option, primarily because of the superabsorbent polymers , which are petroleum-based , chemically produced, and difficult to biodegrade. For this reason , Lybbie diapers are made from bamboo , a material that is naturally soft, absorbent , and antibacterial .
Actually, it's quite logical: diapers are not waste, they are clothing.
Before we dress our baby, we wash their clothes. Often several times, to ensure all residues and harmful substances are removed. Why not do the same with diapers? They lie directly on the baby's skin for even longer periods.
After two years of development, they had the solution: washable, certified, and adapted to parents' needs.
Lybbie is a stylish cloth diaper that works just like a regular diaper. Only it's washable instead of disposable.
